The Man Behind the F8TH

Music has always played a powerful role in shaping the man behind BIG F8TH. From an early age, he recognized how deeply music could influence his mood, his attitude, and even the direction of his thoughts. As a child, it became a refuge—something that connected profoundly with his emotions and sense of identity.

Around the age of nine or ten, he was introduced to rap music for the first time. Artists like Run DMC, Beastie Boys, and 2 Live Crew opened his eyes to a new world filled with hard-hitting beats, creative flow, and bold expression. He instantly fell in love with hip-hop—the sound, the culture, and the raw honesty it carried.

Growing up, his mother took him to church from time to time and spoke to him about Jesus—about sacrifice, grace, and the goodness of God. Those truths were planted early, even though they would not fully take root until much later.

As he entered his teenage years, rebellion set in. At just twelve years old, he began smoking cigarettes, with alcohol soon following. By the time he was nineteen, addiction had taken control of his life. Drinking became heavy and constant, and drug use escalated—beginning with marijuana and other substances, then progressing to cocaine and eventually methamphetamines.

At nineteen, a painful experience left him deeply angry with God. Feeling abandoned and unheard, he began running hard in the opposite direction. The next decade was marked by reckless living—heavier drinking, increased drug use, violence, and an intentional resistance toward faith.

Throughout his early and mid-twenties, life became increasingly unstable. By his mid-twenties, he was on his second marriage, preparing for his second child, and struggling to hold life together. Addiction made that nearly impossible. There were moments during this time when he encountered God—seasons where he attempted to live right, read his Bible, and attend church—but each time the pattern repeated: progress followed by relapse.

In his late twenties, everything changed.

Around the age of twenty-nine or thirty, he experienced a life-altering encounter with the Lord. In that moment, faith became real—no longer inherited, occasional, or circumstantial, but personal and foundational. From that point forward, he made a commitment to dedicate his life to serving God and to live in a way that glorified Him daily.

That encounter marked the true beginning of the journey that would come to define BIG F8TH.

From this place of full surrender, God began rebuilding every part of his life. One of the greatest blessings to emerge during this season was a reunion with Jennifer—someone from his past whom he had always known was the love of his life, but whom he had once let slip away. Brought back together through God’s perfect timing, they began growing in faith side by side and were married in 2007.

Their marriage marked the beginning of a beautifully blended family. Together, they united Jennifer and her three children with his two, forming a family of five rooted in love, faith, and a shared commitment to God. As their family grew, so did their dedication to serving the church. They became deeply involved in their local congregation, where Jennifer led worship and he faithfully served running sound.

Over the years, they pastored youth, ministered through music and made it a priority to serve wherever there was a need. Their shared passion for ministry strengthened both their faith and their marriage. Today, he and Jennifer continue to serve the Kingdom of God in every way they can, united by a strong, joy-filled relationship and a shared calling. With gratitude for where God has brought them, they are preparing to step into a new season—launching a large, Kingdom-focused ministry with a heart to reach, restore, and inspire others through faith.

The Music Behind the F8TH

Music had always been part of his identity, but after his encounter with God, it took on an entirely new purpose. What once served as an outlet became an offering. Christian rap — often called gospel rap — became his chosen medium, but for him, it was never about labels. It was about gratitude. It was about testimony. It was about glorifying God with the same passion God had placed inside him from the beginning.

Shortly after committing his life fully to the Lord, he began creating music specifically to honor God and share his story. For more than twenty years, BIG F8TH has used hip-hop as a vehicle for truth, redemption, and hope. His lyrics reflect real-life experience — addiction, brokenness, faith, restoration, and perseverance.

For the first fifteen years of his music journey, he went by the name SINSEAR. During that time, he primarily rapped over other producers’ beats, recorded and mixed much of his own music, and performed locally, occasionally traveling to share his message. He collaborated with many Christian artists and connected with others who shared the same heart for Christ and the same desire to use hip-hop as ministry.

In November 2018, another defining moment reshaped his path.

The Camp Fire devastated Paradise, California — the town where he lived — destroying nearly everything. He and his wife lost their home and possessions and were forced to rebuild their lives from the ground up. Out of that season of loss came a powerful transformation.

It was after the fire that he changed his name from SINSEAR to BIG F8TH.

The number 8 represents new beginnings, and the name became a declaration of faith — a reflection of renewal, resilience, and God’s ability to bring life out of devastation. It wasn’t just a new stage name; it was a statement of trust and testimony.

In recent years, BIG F8TH expanded further into music production, creating his own beats and offering them to other Christian artists. What began as a practical step quickly became a passion. Production became another form of worship — a deeper immersion into the creative process and another way to serve the faith-based hip-hop community.

At its core, the music of BIG F8TH exists for one purpose: to glorify God honestly and boldly, and to share what God has done with anyone willing to listen.

The Vision

The vision for BIG F8TH is rooted in growth, stewardship, and faithfulness. Looking forward, the goal is not simply to create more music, but to create better music — deeper, sharper, and more impactful than ever before.

With decades of experience behind him, BIG F8TH sees his sphere of influence continuing to expand. New opportunities to glorify God through music are emerging, along with a renewed focus on excellence in sound, message, and presentation.

Recently, that vision has broadened into filmmaking and video editing. By documenting his creative journey — from beat creation to finished tracks — he is inviting others into the process. Sharing behind-the-scenes moments, production sessions, and creative growth allows the message to reach beyond traditional music spaces and connect with people on a more personal level.

This next chapter is not about chasing trends or recognition. It is about stewardship — fully using every creative gift God has given him. Music, production, and visual storytelling now work together as one unified mission.

The vision behind BIG F8TH is clear:

to continue doing what he loves,

to continue glorifying God without compromise,

and to continue pointing others toward hope, transformation, and faith — with boldness, honesty, and purpose.
